The region of Vallés Occidental is a large part of the plain between the Collserola and the massive San Llorenç halfway between the two watershed Besós and Llobregat, where the boundaries are more defined by its municipal terms rather than the natural features.
This is a part of the Depression PreLitoral limited to the west by the Llobregat and at east by the stream of Caldes. The north of the county is occupied by various mountains of the Cordillera Prelitoral. Some of these mountains form the roof of the county. From west to east, the mountains are part of the Hills of Obac (924m. altitude in Castellsapera), the massive San Llorenc del Munt (1.095m. to Mola and 1053m. to Montcau), Puig de la Creu (664m.), the peaks of Sant Sadurní (954m.) and the Farell (789m.). At the South of the county found the Collserola mountain range (512m. altitude), which is part of the coastal mountain Litoral.
The central vallesana is occupied by the valley that gives its name to the county coincide with the watershed of the Besós and Llobregat.
The Vallés Occidenal is one of the main regions of Catalonia, brings together 23 municipalities, some ancient, as a land that is from the old Catalonia. Having two co-capitales, Sabadell and Terrassa is unique to Catalonia.
