Catonigrós - Sanctuary of Cabrera Route
Description Route
Cliffs of Cabrera is in the extreme north western region of Osona, linking with Cliffs of Llancers and Puigsacalm, at the edge of Garrotxa. Cliffs of Cabrera with the Aiats, form a vast mountain range crowned by a tabular plateau where the Port of Bram divides it in two halfs. On one side is the platform of the Pla of Aiats, smooth and bare. At north we can see the mountain of Cabrera, clearly identified in the distance by the shape of the Sanctuary.
Sanctuary Cabrera
The name Cabrera (from the Latin CAPRARIUS "who keeps goats") can be interpreted as a synonym for wild and gives its name to this the place named as Collsacabra as the mountain pass that communicates Olot with the Plana of Vic, a denomination which has been extended throughout the region, known also as "the goatherd".
We can start the route from Cantonigròs
to the Sanctuary of Mother of God of Cabrera at the parking of a restaurant that is located at the entrance of the village of Canonigrós, if we come from the direction of Vic to Rupit.
It is an easy route that can be done with children to enjoy the landscape and nature. We start our walk along the road from the Vic to Olot in the direction of Santa Maria de Corcó and after crossing the Bridge of Rotllana we will turn right getting into a footpath.
Bridge Rotllana
We will walk towards the farmhouse of Aiats following the track and passing through a forest.
We find an informative post and will continue towards the Mountain pass of Bram taking the path at our left and entering a beech.
The road climbs slightly up the mountain along the river of Aiats.
River Aiats
A bit farther the vegetation is more abundant, we will find oak, fir, evergreen oak and beech.
Catonigrós - Sanctuary of Cabrera Route
As we climb up the Mountain pass of Aiats we could enjoy the magnificent views of Montseny and Matagalls at our back.

Una ruta espectacular, vistas impresionantes,es importante llevar bastante agua en especial en tiempo caluroso. Recomiendo subir al Santuario al llegar al Coll de Bram, por el camino de las Marrades y bajar a la vuelta por las escaleras.
